Il discorso di Sensei Paolo Taigō
Spongia alla festa celebrativa per il riconoscimento ricevuto da Morio Higaonna
Sensei quale 'Intangibile Tesoro Culturale' tenutasi in Naha, Okinawa, il 25
Agosto 2013. Sensei Spongia era l'unico occidentale presente.
Buona sera,
Sono felice ed onorato di essere stato invitato a dire alcune parole in questa cosí importante occasione.
Io credo che la storia di una nazione e lo stesso progresso dell'intera razza umana non si misuri sulla base delle scoperte scientifiche o dei progressi tecnologici ma che sia il risultato della vita e dell'azione quotidiana di uomini fuori dal comune.
In Giappone vi siete dimostrati cosí sensibili a questa materia tanto da essere stati capaci di riconoscere le virtú di alcuni uomini che con la loro vita hanno segnato delle pietre miliari nella storia e nel progresso dell'umanitá.
Tanto da attribuirgli pubblicamente l'importante riconoscimento di essere ' Intangibili Tesori Culturali ', dei tesori viventi per tutto il genere umano.
Il mio prezioso Maestro, Morio Higaonna Sensei, merita senza alcun dubbio un tale riconoscimento.
Higaonna Sensei non ama i titoli onorifici, non gli piace che si ricordi il suo grado dan, desidera solo che noi lo si chiami Higaonna Sensei.
Ma per tutti noi, suoi allievi, ma anche per tutti gli appartenenti al mondo del Budō Egli é un autentico Shihan, nel significato piú profondo di questo termine.
Egli é davvero un 'uomo da imitare', un modello di vita per tutti i suoi allievi e il suo Insegnamento ha orientato straordinariamente la vita di così tante persone in tutto il mondo.
Un uomo non può essere definito un grande insegnante, un maestro, soltanto a causa della sua abilitá tecnica, che noi sappiamo Higaonna Sensei pure esprime al più alto livello, ma un uomo diviene un grande maestro, uno Shihan, a seguito della sua dedizione all'Arte e perché ha fatto della propria stessa vita un'espressione incarnata della sua Arte, della propria vita un'opera d'arte che ispira e influenza la vita di molti altri.
Higaonna Sensei insegna i piú profondi principi della nostra Arte, il Goju-Ryu di Okinawa, non soltanto nel dōjō ma in ogni azione della sua vita quotidiana, mentre cammina, mangia, parla, lavora... E attraverso le meravigliose qualitá della sua personalitá, sviluppate attraverso la sua dura e strenua pratica.

Desidero concludere questo mio intervento con le paole di Jigoro Kano Sensei, fondatore del Judō, che é stato un grande maestro ed educatore e che era molto vicino al nostro fondatore, il grande Chojun Miyagi Sensei:
" Sotto il cielo non c'é nulla di più grande dell'educazione.
Attraverso l'insegnamento e l'educazione la virtù di uno può essere trasmessa a molti e il suo esempio di vita può influenzare la vita di altri per generazioni.
Desidero concludere questo mio intervento con le paole di Jigoro Kano Sensei, fondatore del Judō, che é stato un grande maestro ed educatore e che era molto vicino al nostro fondatore, il grande Chojun Miyagi Sensei:

The speech made by Paolo Taigō Spongia Sensei at the
celebration party held in honour of Morio Higaonna Sensei ho received the award
of "Intangible Cultural Treasure". The party was held in Naha,
Okinawa, on August 25 2013.
Good evening,
I am happy and honoured to have been invited to say some words in such an important occasion.
I believe that the history of a country and the same progress of the entire human race cannot be measured in terms of scientific achievements or technological progress but that it is the result of the life and daily actions of special men.
In Japan you are so sensitive to this matter that you have been able to recognize the virtues of some men who with their lives signed like milestones the history and progress of human race, and you, publicly, give them this important award to be recognized like 'Intangible Cultural Treasure', a living treasure for all human beings.
My precious Master, Morio Higaonna Sensei, really deserve this award.
Higaonna Sensei does not like titles.
He does not like that we remember his dan grade.
He likes that we just call him 'Higaonna Sensei'.
But for all of us, his students, but also for all the members of Budō world, he is a true Shihan, in the deepest meaning of this word.
He is really a ' man to be imitated', a model of life for all his students and his Teachings really affected dramatically the life of so many people around the world.
A man cannot be called a great teacher, a master, just because of his technical skills, that we know Higaonna Sensei express at the highest level, a man can be considered a great master, a Shihan, because of his dedication to the Art and because he has made of his own life an expression of the Art, of his own life a work of art that inspires and affects the life of many others.
Higaonna Sensei teaches the deepest principles of our Art, Okinawan Goju-Ryu, not only in the Dōjō but in every action of his daily life, while he is walking, eating, speaking, working etc. And with the wonderful qualities of his personality developed through his hard and strenous training. Human qualities such as: humility, strenght, courage, determination and compassion.
I would like to finish my speach with the words of Jigoro Kano Sensei, the founder of Judō, who was a great master and educator and who was very close to our great founder Chojun Miyagi Sensei.
He said: " Under the sky there is nothing grater then education.
Through teaching and education virtue is transmitted by one to many and his example of life will affect the life of others for generations. True education accelerate the progress of hundreds of years. "

こんばんは。
無形文化財保持者認定祝賀会という貴重な会にご招待頂きお話しをさせていただく事、大変光栄でございます。
１つの国の歴史と人類の進歩は科学的な発見や科学技術が基になるのではなく、並外れた人物の生涯や日々の行いから成るのではないかと思います。特に日本は重要無形文化財保持者認定という事で歴史上、人類の進歩に自らの人生をもって道しるべを残した人物への関心の高さが明らかであります。
私の尊敬する東恩納盛男先生は無形文化財保持者に認定されるべくふさわしい人物であります。
東恩納先生は名誉ある肩書きを好まず、周りの人が彼の段を重要視する事も好きではありません。ただ唯一望まれるのは私たち全員が東恩納先生とお呼びすることであります。私たちと彼の弟子また武道に関わる世界中の人々にとって先生は正真正銘の師範であり、全ての弟子にとって人生のお手本であります。世界の多くの人が先生の教えに導かれ、人生の方向性を定めました。師範という言葉以上の奥深い意味がそこにはあり、模範にすべき人物であります。
技能があるという事だけでは偉大なる師、先生に値するとは言えません。東恩納先生が技術的にも最高のレベルをお持ちになり、その事は私たち皆が知っていることでありますが、偉大なる師と言うのはその道に全身全霊を捧げてきた上にこそある彼の人生そのものに学びがあり、他の人の人生に影響やヒントを与えるのだと思います。
東恩納先生は沖縄剛柔流の奥深い道徳を道場だけでなく、歩く、食べる、話す、働く等あらゆる日常生活の場面に於いて教えてくれます。厳しく、粘り強い稽古により鍛錬された人格を通し、人間の質は慎ましさ、強さ、勇気、決断、同情である事を自ら示されるのです。
最後に私たち剛柔流の開祖宮城長順先生と親しく、柔道の創始者、偉大なる師であり教育者でもあった嘉納治五郎先生の言葉をお借りして私の話しを閉めたいと思います。
「この空の下に教育ほど素晴らしいものはない。教えや訓練を通して一人の人の徳が沢山の人へ 伝わり、彼の模範的な人生が時代を超えて他の人々へ影響を与える。真の教育は人類の進歩を何百年と加速させる。」
東恩納先生へ感謝を込めて心よりお祝い申し上げます。
